We contacted Jon Julio about the upcoming release of some limited edition designer Valo skates. What has inspired the move to make a limited edition valo skate?what do you think sets the valo limited editions apart from other limited edition skate products?
A lot of inspiration comes from the shoe market..Making limited colorways and designs keeps things fresh and exclusive..After the “Fashion” TV.1 comes out ,you will see us taking limited edition models into a new direction…We do it our way and that’s what keeps us apart from the other products out there..
What steps were involved with designing the overboot and who designed it.
The original tv.1 was designed by the original Valo team,but the limited edition FASHION TV.1 was a sample designed from one of our main designers in Italy. Once we got a photo we posted it on the internet to get a response..and since our very 1st post we have had nothing but positive reactions..we are very excited to offer this model.. Definitely collectors items. Im actually keeping 2 models for myself..cause I know we wont make them anymore..
What colors will the skate come in, is brown the only color or is there other version planned based on the success of this first skin?
We have a maroon(brown) and an all black.(See Pics) Both releasing at the same time this May..
Do you see the future of more designer skins? or specific colorways released in limited amounts similar to sneaker culture?
From our side our mission is to supply a good variety of styles..some limited edition some classic..…Expect some wild and innovative stuff!
Whos going to carry the limited edition skate? whats the retail price on these related to the stock valo tv1’s?
Your favorite skateshops will be carrying them..if they don’t then you need to make sure they do!..the fashion tv.1’s are only released once!. There are only a limited run made ALL NUMBERED..The retail price is $235.00 Msrp. BOOT ONLY
Are there plans to have more team members come out with self designed skins?
We have an erik bailey model coming out..so far its looking amazing so keep your eyes out for that..
Do you feel exclusive/designer skates could take the place in the market of say the pro skate?
Theres room for any kind of skate…as long as it looks amazing. People are going to buy into whatever fits their own personal style and hopefully its VALO..
Do you think you would get Micah Barrett to do a custom skate? I really enjoy his work what do you think?

Expand on the idea of “limited edition” for all of the kids out there, and explain how that product deserves attention and why it’s important for people to get behind it.
Well besides the fact that these skates look AMAZING,they are all numbered..
-they come in 2 limited print/colorways…
-they are only being released ONCE..
*so you need to make sure you cop a pair..or 2 or 3…cause these are sure to be collectors items..
Lets say the sky’s the limit in working with other skaters / artists / musicians / companies / whomever… who would you like to be able to work with and why?
I would love to do something with arlo..or maybe micah barrett ?:)
