might be the first video I’ll buy since noir

Funny really but I havent bought a skate video since Noire, before that it was some VG. Not having a local shop sucks really. It puts you out of touch with rolling in your hood. To my knowledge the closest decent shop is in Montreal (d-structure).

So back to the post. Brown brothers, checkmate mixtape 3. watch it.

Sigg Jones, true heavyweight

Awesome final student project from the Supinfocom School in France.
I liken it to Eric So/Michael Lau meets Kung Fu Hustle…or something like that.

It will ship out in late April, but it is available for preorder, so all you Intel-based mac-ers can soon rejoice. A creative license promo site was made with interviews with rising companies who tested CS3 packages and it’s advantage to their work.

Also, there will be a live conference webcast on the packages starting TODAY at 3:30 EST.

MOB Living Episode 2

mob.jpg

There’s something about the MOB crew that keeps me in check with them. It more than them just being girls in a male dominated streetwear world holding their own. It’s how they present themselves. They are so bad ass. Their latest MOB Living episode is posted up on Riottt. Check it out here.

Note: In order for you to view you, you must start an account with Riottt.

VBS.tv

vbs.tv
from the VBS.tv website
“VBS is an online broadcast network. We stream original content, free of charge and 24 hours a day. We carry a mix of domestic and international news, pop and underground culture coverage, and the best music in the world. People have used words like eclectic, smart, funny, shocking, and revolutionary to describe VBS, but we kind of just snapped our fingers in their faces and went, “Whatever. Tell us something we don’t know.”

With Academy Award-nominated director Spike Jonze (Adaptation, Being John Malkovich) as our creative director, original content from a veritable United Nations of contributors, and bureaus in 20 countries, VBS has hit the planet in a manner not unlike a massive global plague. Streaming on VBS’s signature “in-room” widescreen and remote, content will be available all the time, on-demand.

Basically, VBS will exploit every utopian vision the internet has thus far failed to live up to. Thanks for watching.”

IFC Dinner For 5 - Kevin Smith

If your mildly a Kevin Smith fan or hell even enjoy the ramblings of say Jason Lee, Stan Lee, Mark Hamil or JJ Abrams. You should def check out these clips from IFC’s dinner for five.

Some interesting things and its quite nice to see people who are all famous and somewhat related to each other by either directly working with them or by influence on their lives interacting with each other in such a relaxed setting talking candidly about different things.

super deluxe

super deluxe
Todd Dominey the man behind Slide Show Pro. Which is awsome BTW. With the help of his team over at Turner Broadcasting just released their new online property Super Deluxe.

Undoubtly sponsored right now by the folks at dodge, Super Deluxe features online content that you wont find on any broadcast channel, as well they provide some social tools to put your own things online and while Todd makes the case that they arent trying to be the next social networking site, all I can hope is that a bit of the design sensibilities from Super Deluxe penetrate the other social networks since i find both myspace and youtube to be just terrible.

So check it out when you get a chance, if the mini previews from Todds site are any indication of the video content then I’ll need to close my office door.

For those who prefer Premiere…

the mill + modernista! + U2

themill

Hot damn, this is a fine piece of video. Sure to make the viral rounds of the internet as a great feat of editing and human patience. I cant fathom the hours of darklit rooms of people hunched over keyboards mouse in hand to get this thing done. Sometimes it takes a bit of mind stretching to really get the effect but its a great showing of the use of archival and current footage.

The Alchemists

the alchemists
This is rad. Many of you know that I spend my days working for an advertising agency, some of you are privy to my ranting and ravings about all things advertising, from how I think things should be run to new directions I believe we should be pushing towards. Nothing gets me more siked for all things agency other than finding insight into the people and places I find the most compelling. Of late, I’ve been into researching other agencies and studios. Seeing thier work, how they work and where they work. After watching this trailer I get the sense that I’ve been missing out on alot of back stories that have shaped my views on both ads and their products.

If your interested like I am in these types of things I ask you to check this trailer out for The Alchemists

NextFest + Saturn + Processing

barbarian.jpg
I have a friend that works over at the Barbarian Group Hes probably one of the designers/coders that I admire the most. I even got a chance to work with him back in my Helios days. He just finished up this piece for Saturn in the US, its pretty awsome. Here is an excerpt from their site

“Ongoing this week in New York City is NextFest over at the Javits Center - and if you pop by, be sure and check out the Saturn booth, featuring the 40′ x 12′ interactive projection art we created in conjunction with Goodby and Obscura digital. For those of you lucky or unlucky enough (your call) to not be in New York, you can see a video of it here. Yay processing! Yay installations! Yay!”
