Ucon 2009 Summer Line

ucon_summer09_01

In NY, it’s definintely feeling like summer already, which scares me because I’ve heard the horror stories of how wack the weather can be here. Regardless, the new Ucon gear has been released and they are pretty fresh. The vibrant colors and animated illustrations compliment the season. For those breezy California nights near the beach, they’ve got you covered with a thin windbreaker and for those who still rock them sweatpants, or what I now like to call Cookie Pants. The ladies are not to be forgotten with the Elle line. Download the catalog at the Ucon site now.

Quick BTS for Ucon Commercial

ucon_ad_light1

Exciting news from Jochen who sent me these promo shots of a commercial they are doing to promote their booth in the next Bread and Butter tradeshow in July. More photos after the jump. Stay tune for more from the amazing clothing company.

updated: I forgot Jochen also sent me some of the portraits of the line, so after the jump are some photos that were NOT used in the catalog.

Flos Angeles: Meet and Greet

flos1

I originally didn’t plan on posting any of my trips because they’ve been very rhetorical. I kept going to the same places, doing the same things, not only boring you, but also boring myself. Luckily my friend didn’t answer my response for me to stay at his place and had a pretty good weekend.

Ucon 2008-2009 Catalog

totally been meaning to post this for about 3 weeks, but i’m only getting to it now… if you are looking for new rollerblading related content on the internet (and who isn’t these days) you should check out this new site from my buddies dustin and justin. they’ve got a ton of stuff planned for it with lots of video and good content. it should end up being quite the philadelphia archive eventually.

Arlo + Valo

!!! two rollerbladers that the exclusives™ have much love for are getting together to do something great for rollerblading. mr. arlo eisenberg himself just posted this teaser on the franco blog (buy some goods while you’re there too) and i am SO down. this is what rollerblading needs… more attention to art, design, and fostering relationships for NEW executions of our old ideas. other skate companies take note!

jj and arlo, please consider this my personal formal request for 1 pair whenever they are ready.

VOTE…

if you hadn’t heard yet, my boys over at ONE magazine are holding a t-shirt design contest. they enllisted designers from all different corners of the inline world and had them design a tee for ONE. it didn’t have to include “ONE” or even their logo… it just had to be a cool shirt.

the submissions are in… check them out by clicking on the pic above, or HERE. the Exclusives™ got in on the fun too. we’ve got some submissions in there! atleast 3 that i know of, but for the sake of keeping it annonymous, you’ll have to figure it out on your own. vote for the one you would like them to produce now!

Something to be excited about…

DL trailer

conan the destroyer dvd

although.. that font’s gotta go dustin.. holler at your exclusives boys, we’ll help you out!

RICHIE FTW!

knowrichieboxjam.jpg

my fam at neglected truth

, along with denial, and genre are putting together something you should be clearing your schedule for right now. saturday, april 12th they’re throwing another box jam, but this is the real deal. in honor of Richie Stefanacci. a local little ripper who i fortunately got to meet and skate with before he passed away way too early from Ewing Sarcoma (rare, pediatric cancer). his pops put together a foundation, and we’re going to celebrate Richie and raise some money for the foundation.

come out and skate with me, the denial and genre family, brian shima (who’s flying in from cali just for this!) and about a million other kids from be-mag who know what’s up!

i wanna see you out there!… come out, buy some goods (all sales from the day go to the fund, so it’s THAT easy to donate) and i’ll put your pic up on here.

FRSH – Nobody Cares

20080401_franco_shade.jpg

Things have been extremely hectic getting Franco to where it is now, with that said I have never lost touch nor have I lost the desire to have some sort of impact in the rolling community. I am now getting all gears in motion for this new video project im working on that you may or may not have heard of called “Nobody Cares.”

The video will star the likes of Rachard Johnson, Chris Haffey, Franky Morales, Murda, Carlos Pianowski, and special appearances from Josh Petty and Aaron Feinberg, along with lots of old and new faces from the Future Prospects crew.

Here is the interesting part. As of right now the only person Franco Shade sponsors is Rachard Johnson, well that is going to change. We are taking video submissions to be no longer than 90 seconds showcasing your skating and individual style/personality. You will post these clips on youtube under “Nobody Cares / ‘your name’ “. After you have posted it, send an email to franco@francoshade.com to let us know that it is up and we will look for it. If you do not receive a response from us please try again until you do, as that is the only way you can be sure we have seen your submission.

You have until May 1st to do this. A committee of people involved with this project, myself included, will weed through these all and select a winner. That person will become our next sponsored pro which gives them basically all the same privileges that Rachard has had over the past few years. Along with that you will get your own feature section to go along with the pros that I earlier named in the video itself.

I’m sure there are people out there who could care less about being sponsored by Franco Shade or being in this video. For those of you just move on to the next post and enjoy your day. For the rest of you please take your submissions seriously as you will not have any chance later to add or change your edit. There will be a couple runner ups whose prizes are to be determined at a later date.

If you have any questions, send them to franco@francoshade.com

Again, good luck!
Joe

You probably already know about it, but it’s worthE™ for a plug in.

High Quality Shit

Remember the days when rollerblading had some ill commercials? Since the death of a consistant videomagazine, commercials go straight to the ‘tube’ with low quality aspirations, but finally a commercial with a good look and quality.

Franco Shade Fall Line 2007

The homies come through with another amazing line and of course we’ve got the Exclusive™. Here is the full line just for your viewing pleasure after the jump. Giving Back to the Children: Billy Kostka

trudandbillypolaroida.jpg

The internet world is constantly evolving and Billy Kostka is taking advantage of the whole situation. Rollerblading took it’s toll by creating blogs and our very own radio show, but not in the way Billy is doing it. He is a busy man and a name that was behind the scenes of rollerblading, Billy put out a promising trailer about a month ago and announced the premiere showing of the movie, but for the lonely souls that couldn’t make it to the viewing he mentioned that it will be available for download; a move that hasn’t been done since James Reetzke’s “Before The Storm” (well he also pull off that one post-Daily Bread movie that was available for free). I caught up with Billy to see what the haps behind “Not a Lifeboat”.

Intuition Represents Rollerblading in Local Newspaper

475-rollerblading1rymerstandaloneprod_affiliate25jpg.jpg

After my week vacation in California, I talked to Matt Mickey and he mentioned that the Bakersfield Californian, the Bakersfield newspaper, came to the shop and interviewed him about rollerblading. After much anticipation, Matt finally emailed me the full article including photos and video. It looks like we’re finally getting some media play, at least in Bakersfield.
