I’ve been a fan of Brandon Bird since I first saw his Lazy Sunday Afternoon; a painting of Christopher Walken building a robot. In the beginning of the month, he updated his site with new work you can purchase as the original piece or a digital print. my fam at neglected truth, along with denial, and genre are putting together something you should be clearing your schedule for right now. saturday, april 12th they’re throwing another box jam, but this is the real deal. in honor of Richie Stefanacci. a local little ripper who i fortunately got to meet and skate with before he passed away way too early from Ewing Sarcoma (rare, pediatric cancer). his pops put together a foundation, and we’re going to celebrate Richie and raise some money for the foundation.
come out and skate with me, the denial and genre family, brian shima (who’s flying in from cali just for this!) and about a million other kids from be-mag who know what’s up!
i wanna see you out there!… come out, buy some goods (all sales from the day go to the fund, so it’s THAT easy to donate) and i’ll put your pic up on here.

Off register is a traveling show exhibiting experimental printmaking and a show I have been waiting for for the past 3 weeks or so. I was fortunate to see the show which gave me some inspo to hit the school screen printing studio, which reminds me that I need to pay for that fee. Fuck, that means I can’t buy that Hecox print that I’ve been meaning to buy there. Hmm, rent money or a print? Anyway, I have the photos on my flickr page.
Booyah!…and for all you Chicagoans, make a trip out to West Town and check out some prints…even buy a print or two.

When I used to ride terjé was one of the dudes I used to fanboy over, much like Craig Kelly (RIP) and Jeff Brushie. While I havent seen or heard what Brushie is up to I still find rad clips of terjé destroying everything. Case in point watch the video below. Balls son, BALLS!
My agency TAXI did something really cool this year. I wont go into detail in this post but you should check out the 15below site and make double sure you check out the test video. I’m stoked on this idea and on the fact that my employer is fuckin’ RAD.

trailer is rumored to drop this weekend with Once and Sunshine. so if you’re that kind of nerd (and you really SHOULD be) then go see either of them so you dont have to wait til monday to see the trailer online.
One of my favorite artists gives a sample of his show, which looks amazing. If you’re in the Holland area, I would recommend checking this out.

When I worked at helios, I used to sit next to a fellow named andrew. Funny that there were two of us. One day andrew came in and told me he was quitting that day. I asked where he was going and he excitedly told me that he got a job at Digital Domain. Andrew taught me After Effects in about 2 weeks total. We were neck deep in a project where both him and I were designing an environment for the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. I would sketch up the elements in different perspectives and he would model them to suit then would provide me UV mappings for the textures I would make in photoshop. During this time he was the lead 3d at helios and I was a designer / flash guy I needed to jump on the good ship that was After Effects to make this thing happen in any decent amount of time. so 2 weeks and hundreds of noobie questions later I was well on my way. Is this story relevant to this post? I guess so.
New d2.com While I’m not a fan of the glossy styling of the new logo and the thumbnails that resemble iPhones. I must say that this site is quite deep. Loads of work content as well as behind the scenes for you to enjoy. So if your into VFX or movies in general get a glimpse into the new digital domain.
