This has been semi-buzz since the beginning of the year when Burton showed this hoodie for the Fall line. As I leave the Wicker Park area, I did my last “rounds” around the hood, stopping at the shops I will not be visiting as frequently as before. To my surprise the hoodie was available.

The UT mag site is up. I honestly don’t know if it was up already, but my girl Kristopher Dukes directed me to this. I can’t understand what’s being said, but there are lots of pictures.

I was commissioned by Mr. Mickey of Intuition Skate Shop to remix old IMYTA shirts. These shirts are not just old IMYTA
tee; it hits a little harder to the heart. One, my brother Mike Rios™ originally designed the tee. Two, that year was my first trip with Europe. Three, it was the last time I got to hang out with Richard. After half a year of sitting in my basement, I finally found the time to stencil the my pieces in the shirt, pack them up and sent to Matt Mickey. Now is your chance to pick your shirt up at the Richard Taylor Fund site. Photos of the shirt after the jump.

My friend Jasco finally updated and upgraded his site. Give it a look and purchase a hoodie or two. And when I mean hoodie, I mean JUST the hoodie. Just click on the photo to see what I’m talking about.

Leaders 1354 has been delivering it’s goods in the south side area, but now they have added a 2nd location close to my house. I guess Saint Alfred’s isn’t the only one that’s going to be taking my scrill. If you’re in the Wicker Park area, I suggest taking a visit.

USPS will be helping Star Wars commemorate it’s 30th anniversary by installing these R2-D2 wraps around the mailboxes. I think it’s cool and can’t wait to see what taggers and vandalists do to it. For more photos go here and coming soon will be http://uspsjedimaster.com.

From the Anti-Advertising Agency
Advertising is the vandalism of the Fortune 500. And despite that, we still don’t like it.
Between October 2006 and December 2006, the City of New York has removed or obscured 59 illegal banners on sidewalk sheds. In that same period, Citibank was forced to remove all illegal sidewalk projections at branches around Manhattan. And now, years into NYC’s crackdown on graffiti writers and protesters, after we’ve watched our friends be detained, arrested, beat, fined, tried, and given real jail sentences, not a single corporate toy from any ad firm has had to do any time.
This could mean only one thing. They’ve called off the law. Open City. Let’s all get to work.
This is the first collaboration between the Anti-Advertising Agency and Graffiti Research Lab. Modified from Ji Lee’s Abstractor TV. We used black foam core ($10/sheet) cut with a laser cutter - however, this project can be done with an x-acto blade, black construction paper, and duct tape for next to nothing. It can be repeated using any backlit display - bus shelters, display ads, television store windows… dream big, act now.

ALL I HAD TO DO WAS GIVE THESE GUYS MY ADDRESS!
Not even 48 hours since the launch and people are already placing daft pop-ups around. Are people still really that dumb?

This is rad. Many of you know that I spend my days working for an advertising agency, some of you are privy to my ranting and ravings about all things advertising, from how I think things should be run to new directions I believe we should be pushing towards. Nothing gets me more siked for all things agency other than finding insight into the people and places I find the most compelling. Of late, I’ve been into researching other agencies and studios. Seeing thier work, how they work and where they work. After watching this trailer I get the sense that I’ve been missing out on alot of back stories that have shaped my views on both ads and their products.
If your interested like I am in these types of things I ask you to check this trailer out for The Alchemists

I dont do this often but its a bit slow around these parts. People must be busy. I know I was. We just wrapped up the first build of a monstrous site for GM. If you didnt know I work for an agency who handles GM up here in Canada (yes I’m Canadian). 7 Months ago we were to come up with a hub or community like site where the youth could congregate. A site where we would send young car buyers from different youth events we hold in the metro areas of Canada. For me this is Toronto specific, but you get the point.
Who would have thunk that we could have created this type of site for a client who in most circles is conservative at best. Call it luck or call it my shoe salesman history but we sold it through and after 7 long months of meetings and a super rapid tech development we have the first iteration of thisismyride.ca Its in a great spot and we have huge plans for it. So you could be nice and check it out and post up what you think. One of our main goals in this site was to change the perception of GM to the youth market, not somethign easy to do.
cheers

Ladies and gentlemen, lend me your eyes, this is what it means to have a successful brand. Get out your pens, pencils, palm pilots, chisels, stone, whatever just make sure you take thorough notes. This is a paper company. The majority of the population will give two shits about paper. Hell The Office (uk version of course) is all about how boring the paper industry is. Well guess who doesn’t give a shit? French Papers, that’s who. Their promotional pieces are so smart, so cohesive that you can’t help but stop everything you’re doing and handle them.
Take a look around their website, look at their promotional materials and look how they have fun with what they do, how everything fits together, and how it’s all fantastic.

This sucker has been a long time coming, while the bouncing balls spot hit me a bit more emotionally (can a commercial for a tv hit you emotionally especially the 180 second version) the second spot for the color like no other campaign just doesn’t hit home for me on repeat views. It has the staying power of a flopping fish, while I can pretty much re-watch the balls spot over and over again. Maybe they tried to hard, maybe paint just doesn’t have the same personality that the balls do, maybe exploding paint looks more like a technical excursus than the pitching a couple thousand balls down a hill in SF, maybe I’m jaded I dunno I just think its a flash in the pan while the latter was pure genius.
