so if you’re a borderline homosexual like me and care about fashion, (or if you’re full blown homosexual like some other people we know…) you might appreciate style.com’s new iPhone app that will provide you with up to the minute updates from new york fashion week.
so as i wait for the rest of the posse to send me their songs, I figured that i’d go ahead and throw my hat into the ring.
when my plane starts going down, i’m going straight to my canadian peoples, black mountain.
this song is actually the impetus of this idea, as i always imagined it being the score for a slow motion plane wreck that was shot from inside the cabin.
So amidst these creative dog days of summer. (or rather, in lieu of our sustained uninspired blogging.) I’ve decided to tap the brothers with a morbid topic to create some content for this thing of ours.
i posit, should you be on a plane and get word that it’s going down, what’s the last song you pull up on your ipod? (or zune, I’m not even mad at zune)
My first response, came from Matt Andrews. who picked a little ditty from this up and coming band called Radiohead. Maybe you’ve heard of them.
Every few days, (or as the rest of the posse get them to me), I’ll be putting up what the rest of the death songs were, and feel free to suggest your own! you never know when you might get a chance to use them!
now when joe isn’t borderline suicidal from watching the lakers lose to the celtics in the NBA finals, or getting sucked out on digusto styles for 20k pots playing online poker, he’s running his own streetwear company, franco shade.
he just put up a great post on their site about the history of the company. read all about it!
so myself being from boston, and my friend joe navran, one of the most hardcore lakers fans ever, decided to make a bet on the celtics v. lakers NBA finals in which the loser had to take a picture wearing the other teams jersey, and make it their default myspace picture for a month. so stay tuned to joe navran’s page to see him in a beautiful, luscious paul pierce jersey.
instead of having a traditional fashion show for his upcoming fall collection, Stefano Pilati presented his new line with a projected triptych which is hauntingly beautiful and amazingly done.
so during my time at film school i was apart of and witnessed some of the worst films in the history of cinema.
i found this film synopsis, and couldn’t help but share:
“Jack and Diane, two teenage lesbians, meet in New York City and spend the night kissing ferociously. Diane’s charming innocence quickly begins to open Jack’s tough skinned heart. But, when Jack discovers that Diane is leaving the country in a week she tries to push her away. Diane must struggle to keep their love alive while hiding the secret that her newly awakened sexual desire occasionally turns her into a werewolf.”
I thought it was funny until i found out that its a real feature film, with a real budget and i’m really going to see it when it comes out.
Checked out AntonCorbijn’s Ian Curtis biography, ‘Control’ last night. Whether you are a die hard Joy Division fan, or just a casual listener, it’s an amazing picture. Beautifully shot, perfectly acted and successfully void of the traps many musician bio-pic’s tend to make.
I was talking to a very accomplished producer today about these spots, and he told me that when the agency that commissioned them contacted Wes, he said, “well, I don’t really want to do commercials any more, but i’ll do them for 100k/day”. Making him one of the highest paid directors probably ever. (when ridley scott does commericals he typically gets 40-50k/day, which is double the ‘typical’ rate for ‘middle of the road’ commercial directors, at 15-25k/day). Good to know ridiculous style is worth something…
