MK12 Update

spaceman_hoa_img.jpg

MK12 is what’s up in the motion graphics game and they’ve been working on their short film entitled “History of America“; one that I have been eager to see for almost a year since the first trailer. Finally some updates have arrived and I love the rebranding angle they went with. Anyway, check out the site here.

Also, check the store.

decemberists.jpg

So what happens when you commission a music video by one of the ‘hippest’ new directors and all of a sudden it sucks? Well you keep yourself from looking stupid by turning it into a contest!

The Decemberists are looking to their fans to re-animate their video for O’ Valencia. Check the details HERE.

the (real) science of sleep

In promotion for his latest film, the science of sleep,
michel gondry sat down with robert stickgold, Harvard’s associate professor of psychiarty, and had an interesting discussion on, well…the science of sleep, and dreams.

Clear off your scheudle for this one though as it runs a hefty 50minutes…

Tres Logos Book

img_2106.JPG

I went to Prairie Avenue Bookshop and saw the Tres Logos, a book I preordered 2 months prior. I was excited to see the vibrant blue-colored book on a pedestal, rushed to it and spent about 40 minutes flipping through the pages. Some artist return such as 123 Klan and hydro74, but the logos that stood out to me were the ones created by a design firm called Team Manila, which was introduced to one of my coworkers. One of the reasons they stood out was that the logos had the words “Pinoy” or “Pinay” and a very stylized rooster head reminiscing of my dad taking me to cock fights when I was a young buck. Secondly, I didn’t realize that the growth of graphic design firms were being established in the Philippines and I was proud of that they were setting an example to the people of the Philippines that they do not just have to be nurses or doctors to become successful people. Everything We Shoot is the company I knew about before Team Manila.

I also noticed some pieces from The KDU noting Aerosyn-Lex. Big ups to you Lex.

Anyway, if you’ve got the scrill I suggest purchasing this book. It’s available for a good price in Amazon. Holla!

Jim Jones. Could this happen to us?

I remember about the DVD coming out, but didn’t know it came out. Anyway, this is them in the Early Show doin’ their thang.

Size? States

img_0006.jpg
Spotted this small set of photos of the forthcoming size? States which are set to release in size? stores the first week of December. These have been a highly anticipated release and I’m really happy to see they have been well and truely worth the wait, and by the sounds of it there’s going to be quite a release party.

Wembley

yq3w3331_mainimage.jpg
Look at it. It’s beautiful. When I was in London, I watched this stadium grow from 4 concrete blocks into the masterpiece you see before your eyes, and the 3 years of distruption on the tube lines around the stadium can easily be forgiven when you see how amazing this structure is. I can’t wait to set eyes on it again.

£1billion (almost $2billion) well spent.

this is the perfect example of marrying art direction, filming and personal touches with rollerblading. if you’re working on a dvd. make it look as good as this. it’ll help you sell copies, and make all of us look better in the process. kudos to everyone involved with this.

Jumped The Shark?

While already clearly dominating the headwear market, New Era has decided to venture out and introduce a new apparel line for 2007. Although Staple Design was behind the branding, we’ll just have to wait and see how this all pans out later.

Chris Brown x the people who make elevator music

cb1.jpg
Apparently the 16 year old phenome is having a screwed and chopped album alto sax style and it gives me flashbacks as a young buck at my local J.C. Penny’s buying a pair of Ewing kicks.
Listen to “Yo” here.

Remember the good ol’ days?

D-Structure X Arlo

Montréal hometown heroes D-Structure recently opened up a shop/gallery in San Francisco, marking their third shop to date and the first outside of Canada. The shop, aptly known as DSI, hosted a gallery show for artist extraordinaire Arlo Eisenberg, who I might add, hooked the place up proper with an extravagant mural.
