It’s been a long week. Looks like everyone got jobs and started this week. Randy Spizer at Paul Frank, Matt Andrews™ at Imaginary Forces, and Roberto Lievanos at Mavis. Oh also doing DVD box covers for…umm I’ll tell you later, or never. But here’s the story of the DB takeover.
After sleeping at Randy’s floor and getting this exclusives™ 2R blankie and fighting off two of his cats for a good hour or so, we wake up to head to SD for the takeover. We were right on time. For breakfast, we ate some M&M’s, trailmix Gabriella had, and red vines Daveee used to sing Kelly Clarkson songs.
The weather wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t hot nor was it too cold. It was a good day for skating…even though I didn’t skate although I should have. All I really cared about was hanging out with the old homies. First dude I saw whom I haven’t seen in a while was Dustin “Yo Son” Halleran in an H3, but it wasn’t his. It was the good people of Revolution Skate Shop.
James, Gretchen, and celebrity judge Nick Wood
The DB crew, Justin and Ryan
The first AIL champ Mike Obedoza. Better go to Thursday Night Skate tonight dude.
Damien “Shaka Bra” Wilson
When a cop car comes to a skating event, it doesn’t necessarily mean trouble. It means Bakersfield came to represent. Matt Mickey and crew came to the event…
..and when Matt comes to a skate event, he brings cookies! Gabriella wasn’t satisfied with our “breakfast” and this hit the spot for all of us.
It really is a trip to see people whom you haven’t seen for a damn while. Two SD local homies came to the event were Mike Tsang and the Infamous Mike Leaf, who I didn’t recognize at first.
Another old school Street Dwella that came to the event was Gene Galang. Unfortunately, no photo of him. Nevermind. After talking to him on AIM, he sent me a pic from the event. T-FOBS for life!

Lyle Shlavic (I know the spelling is wrong) came from Las Vegas
Rolling Revival’s Adrian came out ready to work out
Connor O’ Brien said he was doing the stunts for X-men playing Angel and this is his pose.
Mike French taking a breather
Jan “The Big Easy” Welch
Shima was another celebrity to come out to show his love.
Robert Lievanos and Eric Schrijn were the another celebrity judges to represent the Zoo
Daveee was suppose to be the announcer, but Matt Mickey took over the mic while Daveee judged. That still didn’t stop him from grabbing the mic from Matt. Not even cookies stopped him.
Myspace photo session.
While Matt was commentating Aaron Churder gave him his sidekick for the timer, but then gave me the sidekick and I became the official time bitch.
The event was 5 heats of 5 and a jam session style. In the final run, it turned into the top five for the best trick. One of the heats were all young bucks.
It was breaktime before the finalé and Ghost Rider Johnny Blaze decided to drop in (that’s actually Jon Elliott)
Other late comers included Jeff Stockwell, Carl Sturgess, and a special UK appearance by Oli Short. I swear, I see this guy more than I do my parents.
The finals were going off. People were killing themselves over this prize, but in the long run, Angel got his and qualified for the ASA in Dallas.
…and his prize for winning is an autographed 2R mousepad by Randy along with a dinner date.
The event was really a takeover. According to Justin, usually on Sundays, the park is filled with woodpushers, but this time the kids had to sit around while rollerbladers had theirs.
Oli is everywere, i think he has a twin.
The DB Takeover edit’s up. DBMag.com is down.
