Mr. Nogatco

nogatco
Kool Keith has done it again. In his latest album Nogatco Rd., he leaves the stripclub and takes up the alias of Mr. Nogatco exploring the earth for extra-terrestrials, but possibly being an alien himself. It is also an enhanced CD (very early 90’s) with videos, photos, and other evidence to prove aliens exist. The album comes out April 25th, but you can get a review on All Hip Hop, check the site at here, and see the teaser here.

What’s Hot For Summer ‘06: Not Caring

Tastemakers and fashion forecasters have come to the conclusion that the next hot trend for Summer 2006 is not giving a shit about anything. More can be found at [fmr*oi]

Charlie White’s Adicolor Commercial

better

Charlie White creates the new and haunting pink Adicolor commercial. He is well known for creating creatures in a real life atmosphere, interacting with people as if they were just part of our natural life. You may also be familiar with his work for Interpol’s Evil video and his photographic books, which freaked my color photography teacher out when I showed her a few of the images.
..pink…

Not to scale…

i stumbled across the work of Ron Mueck a bit ago. he creates crazy hyper realistic sculptures of human forms in varying scales to put you in perspective of life. check out this gallery for more of his work.

Visvim

v41.jpg
Visvim have been the underground market leaders in formal sneakers for many years now. Their original moccasin design takes inspiration from a horse drawn carriage whilst the midsoles feature all the technical jargon you’d expect to see in a contemporary running shoe.

Lifelong cocaine and mushrooms Society.

Despite the amount of drugs I assume these guys take, they create some of the quirkiest, weirdest/awesomest shit I’ve seen in a while.  Having one of the coolest names ever doesn’t hurt either.

Street Glow For Your Feet, Yo.

I remember back in ‘93 when the L.A. Gear “Lights” came out and people everywhere were acting the fool at night. Fast forward to 2006 and we have Jezign Footwear ready to cater to a whole new generation of show-offs.

Think these lights are irrelevant? That seems to be some kind of theme running with this new company, because the information on their website is an overly in-depth history of the inventor’s family fit for an episode of Oprah. In fact, forget product info, that was the only information on the website at all. Talk about edgy branding strategy!

The only thing cooler than this would have to be, say, a pair of shoes that detect Wi-Fi internet hotspots or something. What will they think of next?

Pollinate Sessions

Belief, a design firm based in Santa Monica, took a break from producing amazing work to create two short films known as the “Pollinate Sessions”.

Check out “The Common Desk”, which has some invaluable (and hilarious) advice to help get your creative juices flowing. And afterwards, check out “Chain Reaction”, which is a candid and thought provoking conversation with the founders of Belief.

Random Encounter

After spending most of the day in the photo lab scanning photos, I went to Borders and read the new Res magazine, particularly an article on Jessica Abel. I knew nothing about her, but after reading the article I found out that she is a graphic novelist who just release a new book entitled La Perdida.

Vans X Offspring60

vans1.jpg
It seems 2006 is an anniversary year for a number of elite shoe manufacturers and models. New Balance hits its centenary in June, the Air Rift celebrates a decade of manufacture in September and this month sees Vans reach a pivotal 30 years of vulcanised shoe manufacture. The brand’s most prolific shoe, the slip on, has been subject to a small number of collaborations in the past such as Silas, Addict and even Walt Disney. London’s Offspring are only the second retail store worldwide to collaborate on this shoe, after Beams in Japan reworked the model in 2002.

Powerfulbook G4

What do people with a lot of money do on their days off? They run over their laptops with Hummers. Just to say that they could. This Powerbook was crushed with an H2 and it still boots up perfectly, and gets full Airport reception.
